2017 – A Year Of Growth

2017 has been an extremely exciting year for Cottons Chartered Accountants. We’ve seen extensive growth with new offices and staff, continued client success and even a brand-new website.

Here’s what we have been up to throughout the year.

A New Home in Northampton:

After starting in Daventry, Cottons moved to Northampton in 1991. This year saw the branch move to a new location in central Northampton. The branch has now grown to be our brand flagship with three out of seven of our partners and more than twenty staff working there. The space is situated over four floors and features everything you would expect and more!

After working hard to transfer our operations and transform the new office we had the pleasure of inviting our other offices and clients to our opening party.

Rugby Acquired New Premises

Cottons moved to Chestnut Field House in 2013, and this year we acquired ownership of the property following a six-figure funding deal with Royal Bank of Scotland.

The move cemented the well-established branch’s presence in the area ensuring it’s prepared for more growth in the future still.

Nick Warne, Managing Partner, has commented:

“Our new premises in Rugby and Northampton have allowed room for substantial growth within the firm. 2017 was an extremely positive and exciting year for all at Cottons”

Cottons Arrived in The Capital

Hot on the heels of the new premises in Northampton and Rugby, we were also pleased to announce that we further expanded to London.

The London branch is situated within the Alphabeta Building in the prestigious Finsbury Square which is located between trendy business hub Shoreditch and the financial district.

The move also saw the introduction of a new Associate Partner, Oliver Warne ACA, with the team focusing on growing a presence in The Capital whilst extending tax, accounting and audit services to businesses in the city.

Cottons Workshops:

The expansion into London triggered the introduction of both our Tax and Accounting Drop In Surgery and Business learning sessions. The team thoroughly enjoyed hosting these workshops and due to continued great feedback, we look forward to running more in 2018.

Will Smart Returns As Partner

During this stage on continued growth, we were thrilled to announce the return of Will Smart as Partner!

Will originally trained with us in the 1990’s before pursuing a career outside practice, eventually acting as a Chief Financial Officer. In 2003, a return to practice saw him set up his own accountancy firm in London, which he successfully built and eventually sold. Will remained in general practice since this time, and has now returned to his team and clients at Cottons as a partner.

Daventry Secure Client Finance in Record Time:

Earlier in the year, we assisted a client in achieving an important round of funding in record time! The client, a household name in the manufacturing industry, with a turnover over £1.5m came to us for advice as the company began to go through a change of ownership.

Working closely with the MD we were able to identify the most efficient finance solution. Following this decision, we were then able to prepare the business and application so that when it arrived with Close Brothers they were able to process the funding in less than two and a half weeks!

Now in December, we’re extremely pleased to announce that the client is almost at the end of the payment plan with the seller. This is an incredible four months earlier than expected and business is booming!

Our New Website:

After an exciting year it only seemed right to end the year on a similar note. In December we announced the launch our brand new website!

With the help of Antelope Consultants we created a modern and uncluttered design that provides the ultimate user-friendly experience with quality navigation and functionality throughout.

We aimed to supply our customers and clients with quick and easy access to accountancy information and news. We also created the Cottons Library which holds a collection of over 40 articles and blogs that are based on industry news, company updates and small business advice that include topics such as tax and VAT.

We encourage our visitors to explore the site and look forward to hearing your feedback.

From everyone here at Cottons Chartered Accountants we’d like to say a huge thank you to all our clients and customers. We’re proud of all the hard work our teams have put in this year and look forward to another successful year in 2018!
