Monthly News: Exams, Partners and Local Business
It’s been an exciting month here at Cottons with everything from one of our staff achieving the highest global Corporate Finance and Advice exam score, to our new London branch embracing local currency. Here’s what’s been going on in detail…
Starting with our highly notable exam success, our Corporate Finance Manager, James Melvin achieved the highest possible score, a “Pass with Distinction”, for the Corporate Finance Strategy and Advice paper! The exam was the final stage of his Diploma in Corporate Finance, a prestigious qualification jointly awarded by the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. Talk to him about your corporate finance needs, you’re in the best hands with James.
And it doesn’t stop there as further congratulations are in order as the Rugby office students proudly toast a trio of exam successes; Oli passed ACCA Corporate Reporting, Mai Passed ACA Tax Compliance and Zach Passed ACA Audit & Assurance.
Well done to everyone.
Welcome to Cottons!
Further to the successes of our existing staff members, we’re also proud to announce that our team is growing with the addition of new accounting staff, a new tax manager and a new Partner too!
Following his training with Cottons in the 90s, Will Smart ACA left to pursue accounting in London where he went on to successfully build his own practice and sell his own practice after a long period of success. We are now pleased to welcome Will, whose key interests include fighting the tax obstacles currently affecting small businesses, back at Partner level and wish him every success in his new role with us; he’s a wonderful addition to the team.
Equally as exciting Matthew Harrison has joined the Northampton team as the new Tax Manager, and James Warwick and Emilia Walker have joined the Rugby office team. Look out for them on our new website coming very soon.
And it’s not just new staff that are joining Cottons, it’s new and exciting clients too! Our new London branch has welcomed some very exciting new businesses to their books.
Initially, we’ll be working with them on site to get their accounting systems into place with a view to making them more tax and admin efficient, in turn making them more organised and profitable in the long term.
We enjoy working with our clients on projects so talk to us if you’re thinking about overhauling your systems and processes.
Supporting Local Business
As a further development at our new branch, we have joined the East London Pound – a digital currency that connects people with the best businesses in East London, helps support local business and gives members access to local only events, discounts and community activities.
The aim of the local currency is to encourage more people to shop local, eat local, buy local and live local, strengthening the local economy; something we feel very strongly about.
All branches of Cottons offer local support from lending their offices to charity events to sponsoring university business programmes so let us know what you’re up to and see if we can get involved! We’re also keen to support our clients so be sure to tell us if you have any exciting news to share.
As always, we’re here to help you with the day to day running of your business and beyond. Talk to us about your plans for expansion, funding or selling and we’ll guide you through it all. We have offices in We have offices in Northampton, Rugby, Daventry and London too.
