Our accountants have been in London for one year now, here’s the story of the latest office in the Cottons Chartered Accountants network.
It’s been 1 year since our latest branch opened its doors in London and in that time the business has gone from zero to hero, demonstrating brilliant growth in the new area.
After cutting his teeth in some of London’s most established firms, as well as acting as a senior accountant in one of the capital’s fastest growing accountancy start-ups, Ollie Warne, who initially trained at Cottons Northampton, is now an Associate Partner of Cottons.
After considered negotiations with his old firm, Ollie and Cottons joined forces to set up the new branch, expanding Cottons horizons in the South.
The new branch was originally situated in Huckletree, a co-working space and fin-tech haven in the Liverpool Street area. At Huckletree the new team got involved with like-minded start-ups by putting on helpful business planning presentations and running tax drop-in surgeries. They would like to take this opportunity to say thanks to the team who run the space who were a huge help in the early days.
The branch has since moved to a permanent residence of its own on the East’s famous Curtain Road, sharing building space with Hunters Estate Agents, who are also long-standing clients.
It’s base in the London’s most trendy and techy neighbourhood gives our new branch a unique perspective on enterprise and they are already working with businesses ranging from independent coffee shops and breweries to high-growth tech start-ups.
As a new business in the East London area, Ollie’s team have benefitted from integrating into a number of local networks and have particularly enjoyed working with COLU, whose digital East London Pound concept is a winner in our book.
The team are now looking forward to establishing more business relationships in the area as the firm’s presence grows.
As the London office was new, it had its choice of software and processes to adopt. In the end, they choose to work with the most premium tax, accounting and bookkeeping software available, including Xero, to ensure the firm continued to lead the charge with Making Tax Digital.
By using automated interface, Receipt Bank to ensure efficient bookkeeping, the team have been able to concentrate on useful management information and spending more time with the client to add value to their service.
Notably, the Receipt Bank and Xero model has worked fantastically with so much so that office-wide adoption of the processes has taken place throughout the Cottons network.
Ollie’s knowledgeable yet highly personable approach has been adopted as the nature of the new firm and their clients can’t praise them enough; it’s a pleasure to have this new office as part of the network.
With the client base growing the London branch is now able to employ further staff members and continue to explore innovative methods to ensure continuous high service levels.
“We hope to continue to grow at the pace we have which will allow us to make sure service levels are maintained for both current and future clients. We are very pleased the use of online cloud software has worked well and will continue to pursue this. Our office space leaves us with room to grow our London based team which we hope to do.”
The Cottons Network
All at Cottons are extremely proud of this expansion and their London accountants, it’s a pleasure to see the firm reach further and offer our trusted services to even more businesses.
We would like to say a huge well done to Ollie and his team for their achievements to date and wish them even better fortune in the years to come.
